Description

The tar lantern (Polish: Latarnia Smolna) on corner of Main Town Hall in Gdańsk, Poland. Wrought iron replica of 18th century lantern with eagle holding in its beak a bowl on a chain. Historically tar torches were placed in the bowl, which, when lit, illuminated the street below.
